Pedagogic method for the preservation of the Gipsy/Romani intangible cultural heritage in the Gandhi Institute
The Gandhi High School, Dormitory and Elementary School of Arts in Pécs is the first Gipsy / Roma nationality school in Hungary and also in Europe, which gives graduation since 1994.
The pedagogical program provides the transfer of the vanishing Gipsy / Roma heritage, whilst the language education (lovaric, beas), the education of Gipsy/Roma folk knowledge and arts, plus researching their values are highly significant. Students can acquire knowledge by means of community-building and high-level education which help to strengthen their identity and facilitate their later social integration.
The Gandhi institutional system contributes to the accessibility and comprehension of the diverse culture of Gypsy / Roma people and the acceptance of cultural diversity in Hungary and also internationally.
