The living tradition of the wedding in Boldog: costume, folk song, dance, wedding cakes
Boldog, in Heves County, is one of the Palóc villages of the Lower Galgamente. The traditions which are still alive in the village are reflected concentrated in the wedding in Boldog.
Even young people wear the traditional costumes passing down through the generations. Thanks to the techniques that have been preserved, complete costumes and costume pieces can be made in the village. The elements of the wedding in Boldog, such as the differents types of cakes and the elaborate bride's cake, are still in use today. Groomsmen, ritualistic elements and typical dances play an important role in the wedding. The activities of many local residents, foundations, traditional groups and the work of the country house museum all contribute to the preservation of the traditions of the settlement and the strengthening of the community's sense of identity.
