Báta is one of the most important Eucharistic miracles in Hungary, the place of the bleeding Holy Cross, which still defines the identity of the people living here.
Its roots go back to the medieval Eucharistic miracle and the relic of the Holy Blood, which made the settlement a nationally renowned shrine where our kings also paid their respects. The religiousness and traditions associated with the Holy Blood are present in the daily life of the community. The spirituality associated with the shrine also influences religious traditions, social customs, folk arts and crafts, among which the waxed egg writing stands out. The red colour of Easter eggs is considered by the inhabitants of the village to be a symbol of the blood of Christ.
